Hi, I’m Papa Phil, the founder of a space called Stock Talk. I combine my decades working in Finance, Entrepreneurship & Technology with my passion and curiosity for finding great companies, to make it easier for people to invest or trade.

Jacobs Solutions (J) is a company that most of you have never heard of before. Yet, they are playing a huge part in the buildout of tomorrows world. In 2024 the company spun off a significant piece of its operations, merged that division with Amentum, and in doing so created a new publicly traded entity now known as Amentum (AMTM). This was not breaking into a new business. This was a restructuring designed to sharpen Jacobs Solution forward thinking focus.

From an investor’s chair, Jacobs did not shed its skin lightly. It carved away its government services business to let both sides grow stronger. Jacobs kept its concentration on advanced manufacturing, water, transportation and infrastructure. Amentum took the government facing services, backed by scale and a clear focus. Papa Phil says pruning makes a tree stronger. In this case, Jacobs sharpened its identity while Amentum launched into the public markets with momentum, leadership and an enviable balance sheet.

Meanwhile Jacobs Solutions is proving it is not just focused on core infrastructure like roads and water but is a leader in building the data backbone for a digital world. Its data center work is impressive:

  • Jacobs has built over 11 million square feet of data center space representing more than 2,000 megawatts of power demand; construction value exceeds $17 billion.

  • It is ranked #1 among data center engineering firms, as well as in electronic assembly, manufacturing, and semiconductors, by organizations like Engineering News-Record and Building Design + Construction.

  • Jacobs is collaborating with NVIDIA on its Omniverse Blueprint for AI Factory digital twins—helping design smarter power, cooling, and network systems for next-generation data centers.

  • Projects like Portugal’s SINES DC Campus (1.2 gigawatt, fully renewable energy powered, seawater cooling, zero water usage impact) show Jacobs is pushing both scale and sustainability.

So where does Jacobs stand now?
